Elder Jeffrey R. Holland relates a touching story of a father rushing to embrace his returning missionary son and likens it to our reunion with our Father. The story is at the end of this article.

"When we remember who we really are, we will never feel far from God's infinite and eternal love for each of us. I know with absolute certainty as the years pile up for me that seeking and serving the Lord in study and prayer and service brings one of two things into our lives: (1) He either uses some way to solve our problems and answer our prayers, or (2) He gives us the strength and knowledge and gifts to endure the challenges and to succeed on His time line."

"For true lasting change, we must put God into the process or equation.... Many times as we struggle through life's trials, we try to do it alone. Oh, sure, when we are in a particularly desperate situation we utter a prayer which sounds like, 'God, get me out of this mess, and I promise to change.' The situation passes, and our lives continue unchanged.... One element is constant. We must accept the reality of, and depend completely upon...God and in His Son, Jesus Christ."
