"The Battle Over Gay Teens" was the cover story of Time magazine on Oct. 10, 2005 (read the entire story at http://www.time.com/time/archive/preview/0,10987,1112856,00.html).

Key points from the article:

1. Kids are disclosing their homosexuality with unprecedented regularity--and they are doing so much younger. The average gay person now comes out just before or after graduating high school,

2. The mean age at which lesbians first have sexual contact with other girls is 16; for gay boys it's 14.

3. In 1997 there were approximately 100 gay-straight alliances (clubs for gay and gay-friendly kids) on U.S. high school campuses. Today there are at least 3,000--nearly 1 in 10 high schools. In the 2004-05 year, they were established at the rate of three per day.

4. Kids are growing up with more openly bisexual and gay classmates. A survey shows that 57% of college freshmen favor same-sex marriage (only about 36% of all adults do). Many young conservatives are becoming gay-positive.

5. The article describes the activities of a pro-gay organization called the Point Foundation. It also talks about ex-gay movements, such as Exodus International and Inqueery (see www.inqueery.com and www.lovinghomosexuals.com).

Some news agencies blasted Time magazine for its article (see http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=46884).
