January 15, 2006 FiresideLili Anderson, Salt Lake Stake Center Attendance: 85 Sister Anderson's talk "Three Realms of Light, Law, and Life" was similar to a talk she gave at a devotional at BYU-Idaho on Feb. 1, 2005 (click here to read a transcript or listen to the audio). She talked about telestial, terrestrial, and celestial laws. Telestial law is where the natural man is in charge and is characterized by immediate gratification and appetite satisfaction, and is offensive to God. Terrestrial law is the natural man harnessed, and is characterized by self-control and deferred or delayed gratification. It is not offensive to God and results in external peace and safety. Celestial law is defined as Christ-like being—an integration of heart and behavior. The outcomes of living celestial law are inner peace, creation, and new birth. |
